Nigeria will soon overcome recession’- Prophet Ade Okeowo

Image
‘A bag of rice will sell for N5,000, a litre of petrol for N40 and much more’ One of the youngest and vibrant seers right now is Prophet Ade Okeowo of Word of Liberty Evangelical Ministry, Ikorodu, Lagos. Most of his prophecies have come to pass. Recently, he assured Nigerians that the ongoing economic predicament will become history as people will marvel seeing petrol come to as low N25 or N30 per litre. This he held onto and much more revelations of hope when he had a one-on-one interview with ENCOMIUM Weekly a couple of days back at one of his crusades in Lagos. When and how did the journey into the vineyard of God start? The journey started in 2000, running the crusade from Nigeria to Togo, Ghana and other West African countries. 15 Idiotic Laws That Only Exist in America

Image
America is filled with some pretty idiotic laws, ones that will leave you scratching your head in disbelief. You would think that laws would be logical, that they would make sense. When you consider that they were put into place in order to help society run smoothly and keep people in check, who would have thought that playing dominoes on Sunday afternoon could get you arrested? Not us. In the slideshow above, we feature 15 of our favorite: the silliest, most insane, craziest laws we could find from various states. It may be hard to believe, but these idiotic laws actually do exist. Florida The law forbids women to sing while wearing a bathing suit in Sarasota. Delaware Without proper licensing, you may NOT sell human corpses for money. South Carolina Every citizen is required to carry their gun to church. Halethorpe, Maryland Kisses longer than one second are illegal. Kentucky Doesn’t allow people to carry concealed weapons more than six feet long. Vermont It is illegal...

12-Year-Old Boy To Marry 11-year-old Girl In Egypt

Image
A rich man in Egypt who goes by the name Nasser Hassan is receiving heavy backlash for his decision to get a wife for his 12 year-old son. He made the annoucement while celebrating his eldest son's wedding where he invited various singers and belly dancers to perform. Adding insult to injury, his 12-year-old son, Omar would be getting married to his 11-year-old cousin Gharam. Child marriage is common practice in Egypt even though Egyptian laws prohibit official registration for marriages for anyone under the age of 18. But the practice remains prevalent. According to UNICEF, 17 percent of Egyptian girls are married before the age of 18, the vast majority of the unions taking place in rural areas. But in the case of Omar and Gharam, their engagement sparked outrage, particularly among child and women’s rights activists. The photos of the young couple – Omar in a blue suit, heavily made-up Gharam in a white dress, high heels, and wearing a tiara – splashed across newspapers ...

Liverpool 0 Manchester United 0

Image
Jose Mourinho’s first taste of Manchester United’s historic rivalry with Liverpool ended with a goalless draw at Anfield, where two world-class saves from David De Gea proved pivotal. Monday night’s match was largely an even contest throughout with the teams fashioning a few chances to score, particularly in the livelier second half when De Gea's athletic ability enabled him to deny Emre Can and Philippe Coutinho with astonishing acts of goalkeeping. It was United’s first match at Anfield since the new Main Stand had opened earlier this term and the increased attendance contributed to a particularly rousing rendition of the club anthem You’ll Never Walk Alone. A frenzied atmosphere sound-tracked the opening exchanges, too, particularly when the home fans protested the referee’s decision not to caution Marcus Rashford for an early foul on James Milner. While this was a battle between age-old enemies, there were many new faces involved and arguably none more recognisable than...

Image
Two of the Judges arrested by the DSS between October 8 and 9, Justices Ademola Adeniyi and Nnamdi Dimgba, have concluded plans to file separate suits against the DSS for violating their constitutional rights. Remarkably, both Judges had recently made orders the DSS spurned, since it would have led to the release of persons currently under detention. While Justice Ademola ordered release of the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, and also granted bail to the detained former National Security Adviser to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan,  Col. Sambo Dasuki, retd, on self recognition. Justice Dimgba on the other hand, granted bail to a former member of the arms probe panel that was set up by the Federal Government, Air Commodore Umar Mohammed (retd). The DSS ignored the orders and subsequently took the accused persons before Justice John Tsoho of the same court, who though refused Kanu bail, okayed same bail terms earlier given to Mohammed by Dimgba....

Aisha belongs in my kitchen and bedroom, says Buhari

Image
President Muhammadu Buhari says his wife, Aisha, belongs in his kitchen and “the other room”, apparently a euphemism for the bedroom. Buhari said this at a press conference after a closed-door meeting, with German Chancellor Angela Merkel, in response to an interview Aisha granted the BBC, where she said that his government had been hijacked. In the interview,  Aisha had also said that she might not support her husband  under the present circumstances if he seeks re-election in 2019. “I don’t know which party my wife belongs to, but my wife belongs to my kitchen and my living room and the other room.” Buhari said. “It is not easy to do away with opposition or people who did not follow you along your campaign trail. I hope my wife will remember that I was on the field for 12 years; I tried three times, the fourth time I managed to succeed. And I ended up the first three times in the Nigerian Supreme Court, so I claim superior knowledge over her and the rest ...

19 Banks Suspended By CBN From Forex Sale to BDCS

Image
The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has suspended all the banks, with the exception of First Bank, from selling dollar proceeds of International Money Transfer Services, IMTS, to Bureaux De Change, BDCs. Two months ago, the CBN had directed banks to sell proceeds of their international money transfer services to BDCs. This was in a bid to address the steady and sharp depreciation of the naira in the parallel market. Vanguard investigation, however, revealed that most of the banks were not complying with this directive, preferring to do brisk business with the proceeds. This generated several complaints from the BDCs, with the Association of Bureaux De change Operators of Nigeria, ABCON, calling for a review of the policy measure. Vanguard reliably gathered that the CBN decided to sanction the banks, following investigation, which revealed that most of them were either not complying or circumventing the directive. A top CBN official confirmed this development to Vanguard yest...

Marriage is not for everyone – Banky W

Image
One of Nigeria’s top eligible bachelors, musician Banky W says not every one is destined to get married. The 35-year-old artiste whose real name is Olubankole Wellington has faced a lot of jokes for remaining single despite his good looks. Speaking on Thursday night in Lagos during her radio interview, Banky W once again refused to bow to pressure from fans saying, “The same people who would pressurise you to get married are the people who would criticise you when you fail. Oprah Winfrey changed the world but she never got married. It is not the destiny of every single person to get married.” Banky W had in July spoken to single people not to be under any pressure to get married, as single people do not go about asking older folks “when will be their funeral?” Sourced from :  http://adf.ly/1epmJE
