Speaking at a press conference on Saturday, The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Sulaimon Yusuf Lasun, has raised the alarm over alleged threat to his life by unknown persons due to his interest in the 2018 election race in Osun State. The Speaker said he became more worrisome after the death of Senator Isiaka Adeleke, who was already showing interest in the election before his death. Rivers State Governor,  Nyesom Wike  has alleged that the Nigeria Police Force is trying to take his life. Speaking at the Government House in Port Harcourt, Wike claim that the Police heirachy had plans to plant weapons and foreign currencies in his Asokoro residence in Abuja. In his words, “I had an interview where I said the IG of police is after my life. Yesterday (Friday), the IG approved that they should go my house in Abuja to raid the place. And that they would get the court order on Tuesday in Abuja. “First of all, I don’t stay in the lodge; I have never stayed in the lodge since I became governor. I live in my private house in Asokoro, Abuja. Now, what they have done in that order they want to get from the court is that they did not indicate who owns the house or who is living there. “Obviously, the court will be wary of searching a governor’s house because of immunity. May 1st declared Public Holiday By Federal Government

The Federal Government has declared Monday, May 1, 2017 as a public holiday to commemorate the 2017 Workers’ Day celebration. The Minister of Interior, Lt Gen. Abdulrahman Dambazau (retd.) made the declaration on behalf of the Federal Government in a statement on Friday by the Director, Office of the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Interior, Alhaji Muhammadu Maccido. He congratulated Nigerian workers for their resilience, hard work and commitment to the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari despite current challenges. Nobel laureate Wole Soyinka has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to make his state of health public to Nigerians. Speaking to journalists in Lagos, Friday, Mr. Soyinka said the current speculations about the president’s health is “unnecessary.” “Why is the president hiding his state of health? THE Nigerian Communication Commission, NCC, has released a new short code, 2442, for stopping unsolicited SMS, as the commission reiterated that it remains committed to availing telecom consumers with valuable information on their right to quality service. This resolve was made known by the executive vice chairman of the Commission, Prof. Umar Danbata, represented by deputy director consumer affairs, Alhaji Ismail Adedligba, at the 84th edition of NCC’s outreach programme themed: Information and Education as a Catalyst for Consumer Protection, in Abuja. “This forum is aimed at creating an atmosphere of interaction between the regulator, consumer and telecom operators to deliberate on issues regarding telecom services, in our bid to ensure consumers enjoy uncompromised service. News reaching us now has it that a police officer and an attacker was killed in Paris while another police officer was seriously injured. It has not been confirmed if the unidentified man was the attacker or a bystander. The Champs-Elysées, which is one of the famous streets in the world is now empty as people have been warned to avoid the area for the time being. French police tweeted, "Police intervention underway in the area of the #ChampsElysees avoid the sector and follow the instructions of the police forces." CNN's Paris bureau is witnessing a large police operation in the area. The shooting comes three days before French general elections and Paris was already in a state of heightened alert.

Couple Married For 71 Years Dies Just Four Minutes Apart

After spending seventy years together, this couple died less than five minute apart. Wilf Russell, aged 93, died on March 29 at 6:50 a.m. Amazingly, his 91-year old wife, Vera, passed away just a few minutes later, at 6:54 a.m. The couple were childhood sweethearts. They got engaged when they were just 16 and 18 and were married on Sept. 5, 1945. They had a family and lived together until Wilf, a veteran of World War Two, was diagnosed with dementia last year and moved into a care home in Wigston, Leicestershire. After he stopped recognizing her during visits, Vera’s health declined as well, according to the couple’s granddaughter, Stephanie Welch. Vera was admitted to a hospital in January, just three miles from where Wilf was. She died not having been told of her husband’s death a few minutes prior. Welch says her grandmother’s final words were about Wilf, "The last thing she said to me was: 'We're a right pair, aren't we?'” She believes Vera stayed put u
