My Husband is a wife beater and a Cheat- Mercy Aigbe

Nollywood actress, Mercy Aigbe narrates ordeals in the hands of her husband Mr. Lanre Gentry.

The excerpts:

Mercy had accused her husband of physical violence that has affected her sight and caused her to bleed internally from the physical abuse allegedly melted down to her on Sunday, April 16, 2017.

When she was asked why she came out to say her husband never touched her, she was quick to refute it.

“I never for once came out to say that my husband did not beat me. The video people were referring to happened in 2013 when there were rumours of such and I did a video recording alongside my husband to debunk the claim. At that time I had to do it to protect his image and my marriage. I had to do a live video at that time”, she said.
About Beating…

“He beats me consistently.”

When probed on why she stayed that long after the consistent beating, Mercy revealed that she did because she wanted a home.

“I stayed because I loved him and because he beats me, he begs and gets family and friends to beg me. He promised regularly to change but he never did. When my husband gets angry, he gets physical, not only to me but to anyone. He has done that with my house help who reported him to the Police years ago.

“I stayed because of my children and a lot of people look up to me. I was a role model of some sort and I really wanted to keep it together. I just wanted a home”.

Why she wants to leave now…

“It’s not like I wanted to walk away but I just feel like we need help. I spoke to my husband’s brother about it. I told him I was going to pack out for some time while my husband seeks therapy. I just wanted to feel safe, that is why I moved my things out. This last beating was brutal. I actually thought I was going to die”.

I’m Still Coughing blood

The Nollywood actress revealed that her husband broke her orbits which will necessitate a surgery for her to see properly. “I’m still coughing and sneezing blood even after three weeks”, she reveals how severe the injury inflicted upon her is.
My Husband Was Sleeping With a Girl also revealed that the last incident started few days before when she discovered that her husband was sleeping with a lady.

A lady she claimed to be her friend whom she was close to. This was a regular attitude from her husband; a man she claims has slept with a lot of people close to her, even her PAs. She confronted him and it led to a huge argument which was turning violent before she had to keep quiet.

He Kept Beating Me. On the day of the incident, Mercy had informed her husband that she was attending a burial of her colleague. After his hesitance, she explained that it would not be fair on the lady since she had promised to be there and even invited him to come along.
Mercy revealed that it was her refusal to go and pick her husband up while she was still at her designer’s place that brought the fury of the man on her. He was said to have driven there and started to beat her in the presence of everybody.

“Immediately, I opened the door, he kept beating me. I was begging him and asking why he was beating me. He said he would destroy my face such that no make-up would fix it and destroy my career. He was acting like someone who was possessed. I told him “Lanre, mo ma bi mo fun e” (translated as “I have a child for you).

I agree that I am a fool

In the exclusive interview, the Nollywood star said she agrees that she was a fool for staying that long even with all the beating and humiliation. “I believed that a wise woman builds her home. That’s why I stayed that long”, she said.

About Cheating

“If he had shown a bit of remorse, maybe things would have been different. He went on saying that I cheated on him several times. I never cheated. That’s why I told him to come out with proof”, she said.

My Husband was in detention for over 7 months

“My husband was in detention for over seven months and I never left him or go anywhere. Why would I want to go now? He says all this is make-up. He is not showing any form of remorse and still sponsoring lies against me.

CBN Convoy Rams Into Governor Amosun’s Convoy

Governor Escapes Unhurt

Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, on Thursday, narrowly escaped unhurt when a convoy of bullion vans belonging to the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN rammed into the governor’s convoy on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

The incident, which occurred around Ibafo, while the Governor was traveling to Lagos for an official assignment, saw the CBN convoy damaging the escort vehicle in the governor’s convoy.

The CBN convoy, driving dangerously, attempted to overtake the governor’s convoy without regards for the safety of other road users.

On sensing danger, the Ogun Governor’s escort commander used a public address system mounted on his vehicle to warn the CBN convoy to desist from such reckless driving.

Not only was the Governor’s escort commander ignored, the CBN convoy drivers went ahead to crush his vehicle and subsequently went after other vehicles in the Governor’s convoy, including the Governor’s official car, before they were brought to a halt by the security team attached to the Governor.

Reacting to the incident, Governor Amosun said, “this is lawlessness and the height of impunity.”

He added that, “if this could happen to a governor within his territory, you can imagine what they would do to our citizens who are simply going about their legitimate business.”

Governor Amosun expressed disappointment with the reckless manner in which the CBN bullion van convoy often conducts itself on the road and warned that such acts of impunity will not be tolerated within the borders of Ogun State.

“We will not allow such senseless and reckless behavior in Ogun State,” Governor Amosun said.

This is not the first time the Governor would have cause to personally caution reckless CBN convoy drivers in Ogun State. On several occasions, the Ogun State Governor had to personally turn back reckless CBN bullion van drivers who often drive against traffic, with impunity, on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway.

Remembering The Reggae Legend, Bob Marley Who Died 36 Years Ago At The Age Of 36

We all know who Bob Marley was but let me give a little of his profile...
Full name- Robert Nesta "Bob" Marley
D.O.B- 6 February 1945
was a Jamaican singer-songwriter, musician, and guitarist, he started out in 1963 with the group the Wailers,After the Wailers disbanded in 1974,[4] Marley pursued a solo career upon his relocation to England that culminated in the release of the album Exodus in 1977.

In July 1977, Marley was found to have a type of malignant melanoma under the nail of a toe. Contrary to urban legend, this lesion was not primarily caused by an injury during a football match that year, but was instead a symptom of the already-existing cancer. Marley turned down his doctors' advice to have his toe amputated (which would have hindered his performing career), citing his religious beliefs, and instead the nail and nail bed were removed and a skin graft taken from his thigh to cover the area.[55][56][57] Despite his illness, he continued touring and was in the process of scheduling a world tour in 1980.

While Marley was flying home from Germany to Jamaica, his vital functions worsened. After landing in Miami, Florida, he was taken to the hospital for immediate medical attention. Marley died on 11 May 1981 at Cedars of Lebanon Hospital in Miami (now University of Miami Hospital), aged 36. The spread of melanoma to his lungs and brain caused his death. His final words to his son Ziggy were "Money can't buy life.

My Life is in Danger- Osun State House of Reps Deputy Speaker Cries Out

Image result for hon yusuf sulaimon lasun

Speaking at a press conference on Saturday, The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Sulaimon Yusuf Lasun, has raised the alarm over alleged threat to his life by unknown persons due to his interest in the 2018 election race in Osun State.
The Speaker said he became more worrisome after the death of Senator Isiaka Adeleke, who was already showing interest in the election before his death.
The text of the press statement, titled: “The life of Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon. Lasun Yussff, is in danger,” reads in full:
Preamble: Gentle men of the press, I welcome you all to this press conference. Thanks for honoring our invitation.
Introduction: Following the election of Rt. Hon. Lasun Yussuff as the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Abuja on June 9th 2015 and his subsequent intention to run for the governorship of Osun State in 2018, we have received a number of threats that have put his life in danger. While all these threats are public information, we are however surprised at the statement credited to some members of Osun caucus in the House of Representatives including Hon. Jibola Famurewa,Hon. Mojeed ALABI, Hon. Gaffar Amere, Hon. Ayo Omidiran and Hon. Olufemi Fakeye. In the press statement made after the tributes on Late Senator Isiaka Adeleke was made at the plenary on the floor of the House, that the expression of fear of danger on the life of Rt. Hon, Lasun Yussuff was built on emotion. The following public utterances and actions associated with Prince Gboyega Famoodun and others in the Government of Osun State serve as evidences of endangering the life of Rt. Hon. Lasun Yussuff and prove that our concern is outside the context of emotion.
On Monday 31, October 2016, Prince Gboyega Famoodun, under the pretext that he was acting on behalf of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State sternly warned by way of threat on Page 11 of The Punch Newspaper of October 31, 2016 that Late Senator Isiaka Adeleke and Hon. Lasun Yussuff should suspend their governorship ambition. He further stated in that paper using the coverage of APC to express his personal hatred against both Lasun Yussuff and Isiaka Adeleke that the party will discipline both late Isiaka Adeleke and Lasun Yussuff if they refused to stop their ambition. While there was and still no record to date of APC party meeting to decide such, we clearly knew that the threat was a personal purport of Prince Gboyega Famoodun and not of the APC party. We respect our party- APC as a noble party and appreciate its teaming supporters at the grassroot.
In furtherance to his threat, on 20th February 2017, Gboyega Famoodun again said on a programme tagged “Political Updates” on Rave FM station in Osogbo anchored by Mr Dayo Oderinu that “Lasun Yussuff is on his own”.
In another edition of the programme held about four weeks later featuring Mr. Azeez Adesiji, an acclaimed Vice Chairman of our party APC in Osun State, Azeez Adeniji said that “Lasun is a prodigal son”. This was to further the personal threat of danger which Prince Famoodun had earlier set against Lasun Yussuff.
Around December 2016, the Tricycle Association in Osun State accosted Rt. Hon. Lasun Yussuff to appreciate his gesture in donating 106 tricycles to his party members in APC in Osun State, being part of his empowerment programmes. It was this that motivated the association. The Association further requested for grants of money to administer among themselves as loans to boost their enterprises. Lasun Yussuff agreed to facilitate the monetary request and the association was enthused and offered Lasun Yussuff to be their patron. Lasun Yussuff agreed. Three days before the ceremony, the chairman of the Association Mr. Ibrahim Adewale Folorunso sought to see Rt. Hon. Lasun Yussuff, but not fulfilled. He however met Comrade Waheed Adediran and Mr. Wale Daodu from Osogbo, who facilitated their visit to Lasun Yussuff. Ibrahim Adewale informed Wale Daodu and Waheed Adediran that one Mr. Gbenga Akano, a former political appointee in Osun State under the government of Mr. Rauf Aregbesola has met them and asked them to inform Lasun Yussuff not to appear at the function, and that if Lasun Yussuff appeared, the programme would be disrupted.
On 27th January 2017, one of the veteran Progressive leaders and politicians in Ikirun Pa Ganiyu Owoseni Lawal had his 90th birthday in Ikirun. Specifically Lasun Yussuff was invited to the programme by the celebrant. Lasun Yussuff visited the celebrant a day before the celebration in Ikirun, and Pa Lawal hosted Lasun Yussuff in one of the celebrant’s wives’ bedrooms. Lasun Yussuff also promised to attend the ceremony on the following day. But to our surprise at around 9pm that evening a text message was sent to Lasun Yussuff private phone number as follows: “Sir, It’s very unfair for you to want to attend Baba Owoseni’s birthday ceremony tomorrow. If you insist to come and anything comes against you, you have to bear it. My advice is that you should not come.” This threat was reported to the Directorate of State Service (DSS) Osun State Command, who investigated the source of the threat. The DSS found that one Mr. Abimbowo (A.K.A Ijanja) was the sender. Mr. Abimbowo was arrested. During his interrogation he confessed that one Mr. Wale Afolabi, a former commissioner for Justice and Attorney General in Osun State under the government of Mr. Rauf Aregbesola ordered him to send the text. DSS invited Mr. Wale Afolabi for interrogation, while Mr Abimbowo was detained for two weeks in the custody of DSS during the investigation as others that were involved in the threat to the life of Lasun Yussuff were at large.
Around first week of April 2017, Osogbo Muslim Community led by Alhaji Moroof Idi- ako (Mufashiru of Osogbo land), Alhaji Suleiman (Baba Kekere of Osogbo Land, Alhaji Muniru Adebayo and others visited Lasun Yussuff to appreciate the ongoing developmental projects, which he facilitated in Osogbo. In their discussions they further requested that Rt. Hon. Lasun Yussuff should assist them in building the perimeter fence around the new Osogbo Eid along Ibokun road. Lasun Yussuff agreed to their request. On resumption to the site, One Dr. Bashiru Ajibola, a former Commissioner on Special Duty in the government of Mr. Rauf Aregbesola moblised thugs and hoodlums to the site, claiming that he acted on the order of the government of Osun State to stop Lasun Yussuff from the construction of the Eid’s perimeter fence.
In conclusion, the above public instances and actions are pointers to the fact that the life of Rt. Hon. Lasun Yussuff is in danger. We believe perfectly in God, and we do not want any death to occur to anyone in such a mysterious way it had happened in the case of Senator Isiaka Adeleke (May his soul rest in perfect peace). We therefore refused to join issue with anyone, but as more dangerous situation arises, we are going to inform the public.
Thank you all for listening.

IG Plans to Kill me- Governor Nyesom Wike

Rivers State Governor,  Nyesom Wike  has alleged that the Nigeria Police Force is trying to take his life. Speaking at the Government House in Port Harcourt, Wike claim that the Police heirachy had plans to plant weapons and foreign currencies in his Asokoro residence in Abuja.

In his words, “I had an interview where I said the IG of police is after my life. Yesterday (Friday), the IG approved that they should go my house in Abuja to raid the place. And that they would get the court order on Tuesday in Abuja. “First of all, I don’t stay in the lodge; I have never stayed in the lodge since I became governor. I live in my private house in Asokoro, Abuja. Now, what they have done in that order they want to get from the court is that they did not indicate who owns the house or who is living there. “Obviously, the court will be wary of searching a governor’s house because of immunity. But to beat that, they did not indicate that it is the house of the governor of Rivers State. I am not afraid. If you want to search my house, I live in Port Harcourt. I have my house in the village and I have my house in the Old GRA. So, you can come and search. “All attempt is being made so that they will go and plant either AK47 or millions of dollars in the house. They can even plant costly wrist watches as propaganda tool”. Meanwhile, spokesman for Rivers State Police Command, DSP Nnamdi Omoni, said he was not aware of the alleged plot.

The Police has however denied such allegation and have challenged him to come out with concrete evidence.

Soyinka: "Why Is President Buhari Hiding His State Of Health?

Nobel laureate Wole Soyinka has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to make his state of health public to Nigerians.

Speaking to journalists in Lagos, Friday, Mr. Soyinka said the current speculations about the president’s health is “unnecessary.”

“Why is the president hiding his state of health? He’s supposed to understand he’s public property, me I’m still private property, that’s why I’m not in Aso Rock,” said Mr. Soyinka, a professor of Comparative Literature.
“Once you are in Aso Rock, or you occupy a similar position, you have a responsibility to come out frankly to your citizens.

“Guarding your state of health like Donald Trump is guarding his tax returns is not what we expect from a Nigerian president.

“Let him address the nation and stop all these speculations which creates unnecessary political manipulations among other things.”

Wilf Russell, aged 93, died on March 29 at 6:50 a.m. Amazingly, his 91-year old wife, Vera, passed away just a few minutes later, at 6:54 a.m.

The couple were childhood sweethearts. They got engaged when they were just 16 and 18 and were married on Sept. 5, 1945. They had a family and lived together until Wilf, a veteran of World War Two, was diagnosed with dementia last year and moved into a care home in Wigston, Leicestershire.

After he stopped recognizing her during visits, Vera’s health declined as well, according to the couple’s granddaughter, Stephanie Welch. Vera was admitted to a hospital in January, just three miles from where Wilf was. She died not having been told of her husband’s death a few minutes prior.

Welch says her grandmother’s final words were about Wilf, "The last thing she said to me was: 'We're a right pair, aren't we?'” She believes Vera stayed put until the time was right. "I think she was waiting for him to go. She was broken-hearted."

That should be the 21st Century Romeo and Juliet!

Billionaire banker David Rockefeller dies aged 101

Former Chase Manhattan Chief Executive David Rockefeller has died at the age of 101.
Rockefeller died in his sleep at home in Pocantico Hills, New York, on Monday morning as a result of congestive heart failure, according to a family spokesperson Fraser P. Seitel.

The businessman, who had an estimated fortune of $3 billion, retired as head of Chase Manhattan in 1981 after a 35-year career.

In the statement from the The Rockefeller Foundation confirming his death, Rockefeller was described as “one of the most influential figures in the history of American philanthropy and finance, considered by many to be ‘America's last great international business statesman’.”

Rockefeller, also known as ‘the banker’s banker’, according to the statement, is said to have donated almost $2 billion over his lifetime to various institutions including Rockefeller University, Harvard University and art museum.

David was the youngest of six children born to John D. Rockefeller Jr. and the grandson of Standard Oil co-founder John D. Rockefeller.

Rockefeller graduated from Harvard in 1936 and received a doctorate in economics from the University of Chicago in 1940. Appointed president of Chase Manhattan in 1961, he became chairman and CEO eight years later.

Rockefeller often spoke about the importance of American capitalism, which he said “brought more benefits to more people than any other system in any part of the world at any time in history.”

"The problem is to see that the system is run as efficiently and as honestly as it can be," he added.

Rockefeller was married to Margaret McGrath from 1940 until her death in 1996 and the couple had six children.

The Internet Is In Danger, Says It's Founder, Here Are Ways To Fix It

Not many of us are familiar with the inventor of the Internet, Sir Tim Berners-Lee.
In the letter published by the World Wide Web foundation, Berners-Lee said:

It's 28 years since he submitted his original proposal for the World Wide Web and Berners-Lee has penned an open letter naming three issues that need to be addressed to ensure the survival of the internet.

In the letter published by the World Wide Web foundation, Berners-Lee said:

I imagined the web as an open platform that would allow everyone, everywhere to share information, access opportunities, and collaborate across geographic and cultural boundaries.
In many ways, the web has lived up to this vision, though it has been a recurring battle to keep it open.
But over the past 12 months, I’ve become increasingly worried about three new trends, which I believe we must tackle in order for the web to fulfil its true potential as a tool that serves all of humanity.

He then addresses three issues:

1. We need to take back control of our personal data

We are not aware of the fact that we have direct control over this data, and we chose to share it with. What's more, we often do not have any way of feeding back to companies what data we'd rather not share - especially with third parties - the T & Cs are all or nothing... In repressive regimes, it's easy to see the harm that can be caused - bloggers can be arrested or killed, and political opponents can be monitored.
But even in countries where we believe governments have citizens' best interests at heart, watching everyone, all the time is simply going too far.
It creates a chilling effect on free speech and stops the web from being used to explore important issues, like sensitive health issues, sexuality or religion.

2. We need to tackle fake news

Today, most people find news and information on the web through just a handful of social media sites and search engines.
These sites make more money when we click on the links they show us. And, they choose what to show us based on algorithms which they learn from our personal data that they are constantly harvesting. The net result is that these sites show us content they think we'll click on - meaning that misinformation, or 'fake news', which is surprising, shocking, or designed to appeal to our biases can spread like wildfire .
And through the use of data science and armies of bots, those with bad intentions can play the system to spread misinformation for financial or political gain.

3. Politicians need to be more open

Political advertising online has quickly become a sophisticated industry.
The fact that most people get their information from just a few platforms and the increasing sophistication of algorithms drawing upon rich pools of personal data, means that political campaigns are now building individual adverts targeted directly at users. One source suggests that in the 2016 US election, as many as 50,000 variations of adverts were being served every single day on Facebook, a near-impossible situation to monitor.
Targeted advertising allows a campaign to say completely different, possibly conflicting things to different groups. Is that democratic?

He plans to work on the issues in a five-year strategy with the World Web Foundation, which he launched in 2009.
Last year Freedom House found that Internet censorship was at it's highest for the sixth consecutive year and that two thirds of internet users live in countries where where criticism of the government, military, or ruling family are subject to censorship.

Why is Russia so dangerous?

The size of Russia is bigger than that of Pluto. If Siberia were a country, it would be the third largest in the world. Russia stretches about 10000 km east to west, which is almost three times the diameter of the moon, one-and-a-half times the diameter of mars and just 2000 kms short of earth’s diameter.
Russia’s total natural resources are valued at USD 75 trillion.
Russia has the largest reserves and is the largest exporter of natural gas. It has the second largest coal reserves, the eighth largest oil reserves and is the largest exporter of oil in the world.
Russia is a leading producer of copper, fluorspar, iron ore, lime, gold, magnesium compound and metals, mica, cobalt, aluminum, asbestos, arsenic, cadmium, coal, cement, boron, bauxite, vanadium, titanium sponge, tin, tungsten, potash, sulfur, silicon, rhenium, steel, pig iron, nickel, palladium, phosphate, petroleum, nitrogen, peat and oil shale.
Russia has 40% of world’s gold reserves.
20% of the global production of industrial grade diamonds and 25% of global gemstone production come from Russia.
11% of the global aluminum market is controlled by just one Russian company, Rusal.
Russia has more than a fifth of the world's forests. About one-fifth of the timber in the entire world is present in the forests of Siberia.
If you laid the oil and gas pipelines of Russia around the equator, it would encircle earth 6 times.
Only one lake of Russia, Lake Baikal has 20 percent of entire fresh water in the world.
Russia has 4 of the 10 largest rivers in the world.
Russia’s top 20 billionaires have a combined wealth of about USD 250 billion, which is more than the GDP of 150 individual countries in the world.
Russian inventions include transformer, helicopter, video-tape recorder, synthetic rubber, grain harvester, electrical telegraph, arc welding, radiator, powdered milk and thousands of other things without which life would be very different today.
Russia has the largest number of nuclear weapons in the world. Russia's RS-24 Yars Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) has ten independently targetable nuclear warheads, which can reenter earth's atmosphere at hypersonic speeds at around 5 miles a second.
Russia has the largest atomic bomb - Tsar Bomb, which was detonated way back in 1961.

Russia is Not dangerous. It is FORMIDABLE.

Black History Month- 2017

Black History Month, or National African American History Month, is an annual celebration of achievements by black Americans and a time for recognizing the central role of African Americans in U.S. history. The event grew out of “Negro History Week,” the brainchild of noted historian Carter G. Woodson and other prominent African Americans. Since 1976, every U.S. president has officially designated the month of February as Black History Month. Other countries around the world, including Canada and the United Kingdom, also devote a month to celebrating black history.
The story of Black History Month begins in 1915, half a century after the Thirteenth Amendment abolished slavery in the United States. That September, the Harvard-trained historian Carter G. Woodson and the prominent minister Jesse E. Moorland founded the Association for the Study of Negro Life and History (ASNLH), an organization dedicated to researching and promoting achievements by black Americans and other peoples of African descent. Known today as the Association for the Study of African American Life and History (ASALH), the group sponsored a national Negro History week in 1926, choosing the second week of February to coincide with the birthdays of Abraham Lincoln and Frederick Douglass. The event inspired schools and communities nationwide to organize local celebrations, establish history clubs and host performances and lectures.
In the decades that followed, mayors of cities across the country began issuing yearly proclamations recognizing Negro History Week. By the late 1960s, thanks in part to the Civil Rights Movement and a growing awareness of black identity, Negro History Week had evolved into Black History Month on many college campuses. President Gerald R. Ford officially recognized Black History Month in 1976, calling upon the public to “seize the opportunity to honor the too-often neglected accomplishments of black Americans in every area of endeavor throughout our history.”
Since then, every American president has designated February as Black History Month and endorsed a specific theme. The 2013 theme, At the Crossroads of Freedom and Equality: The Emancipation Proclamation and the March on Washington, marks the 150th and 50th anniversaries of two pivotal events in African-American history.

South African Woman Poisons Her Private Part To Kill Cheating Husband (pic)

A woman in South Africa is facing a 15-year jail term for allegedly lacing her vagina with poison so she could kill her cheating husband.

Trending Post reports that the woman identified as Beatrice who has been charged with attempted murder had been complaining to her friends about her husband's adulterous ways and decided to punish him in the most unusual way.

It was gathered that Beatrice put a very potent liquid rat poison she found on Google in her private parts with the hope that her husband, Khumalo , would give her a cunnilingus which would kill him in the process.

After she was arraigned in court, Beatrice reportedly said:
“I told him not to sleep around on me, I bet he won’t do it no more. I knew something was wrong when he wouldn't leave the house to come get this vagina; he knows we always f*ck Thursday.”

The woman Beatrice suspected her husband was sleeping with identified as Valerie Sithole, stated in court documents she knew something was wrong after she had not seen Khumalo in four days.

Beatrice was charged with attempted murder and faces 15 years in prison. She is being held on R150,000 bond.

Giving evidence in the case, Khumalo said he knew something wasn’t right before he went down on his wife because she had been playing a song titled 'Poison' on repeat all day long.

He said his instinct save his life as he refused to go down on her despite her insistence and promised to stop cheating on his wife though he vowed never to eat or drink anything she gives him as long as they remain married.

Ambode commissions major link bridge in Badagry, order construction key road

By Olaolu Oladipo, Lagos

Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode on Thursday commissioned the newly completed Imeke-Ajido Bridge, a major link bridge in Badagry axis of the State.

The bridge, which is 500metres long, was designed with sidewalk on both sides.

Addressing a mammoth crowd of joyous residents who came out to receive him after walking on the bridge, Governor Ambode said the delivery of the project was a promise kept and an effort aimed at making life comfortable for the people.

Before the construction of the bridge by the State Government, the people of the area were said to have been subjected to untold hardship trying to connect Ajido town to Imeke, all suburbs in Badagry.

The Governor also approved immediate commencement of work on the second phase of the project which is 17km network of roads connecting Aradagun to Whispering Palms.

The Governor said: “Apart from this bridge that we have just commissioned, take the second phase which connects this place to Whispering Palms as being approved immediately and work should commence immediately.

“It is good that the Kabiyesi is here. The last time we came here was sometime in July and which we said this bridge should be constructed by CCECC.

“Today, we are happy to see that the bridge has been completed and it is hereby commissioned for use from this moment onwards while we believe strongly also that before the end of June 2017, we should have a very good road to Whispering Palms which will also improve on the tourism potentials of Badagry and it will also improve the economy of this axis.”

Earlier, while briefing the Governor, Deputy Project Manager for the Imeke-Ajido-Aradagun project, Mr Zannu Thomas said the bridge was delivered according to specification, adding that the second phase, as ordered by the Governor, would be completed in the next six months.

He said about 3,000 interlocking blocks have already been moulded for the work to commence, while work has also commenced on the drainage.

Responding on behalf of the elated residents, Ahoru of Ajido Kingdom, Oba Saheed Sedono Adamson commended Governor Ambode for the people-centered projects he has been carrying out in the State, and thanked him especially for the newly constructed bridge.

He said: “I want to sincerely thank our Governor for all the wonderful job he has been doing in Lagos since inception of his administration. We are so glad and happy with what the Governor is doing. This bridge commissioned today is the first of its kind in this area. We are so grateful.

Shekau to Buhari: ‘Stop telling lies, Boko Haram still intact’

The leader of the dreaded sect, Boko Haram, Abubakar Shekau has resurfaced in a new video , saying the claims by the Federal Government that his group has been routed from Sambisa Forest is a ruse.

In the video posted on Thursday on Youtube, the Boko Haram insurgent group through its leader, Shekau said, “We are safe. We have not been flushed out of anywhere. And tactics and strategies cannot reveal our location except if Allah wills by his decree.”

Flanked by masked armed fighters, the elusive Shekau added that President Muhammadu Buhari should not be distorting the real situation of things as they regard the fight against terrorism in the northeast.

“You should not be telling lies to the people. If you indeed crushed us, how can you see me like this? How many times have you killed us in your bogus death?” he asked.

Shekau last appeared in a video in September where he disputed a claim by the Nigerian military that he had been wounded in battle.

While vowing to continue fighting on until an Islamic state was imposed in northern Nigeria, he added that “Our aim is to establish an Islamic Caliphate and we have our own Caliphate, we are not part of Nigeria.”

The Federal Government had announced that a months-long military campaign in the 1,300 square-kilometre (500 square-mile) forest in northeastern Borno state had led to the “final crushing of Boko Haram terrorists in their last enclave in Sambisa Forest”.

Assembly passes N221.09b Ogun 2017 Appropriation Bill into law

Members of the Ogun House of Assembly on Thursday passed the 2017 Appropriation Bill of N221.09 billion into law.

In the document obtained by BLACKFACE, the lawmakers however cut N38.5 million from the initial N221.12 billion presented to the House by Governor Ibikunle Amosun.

The bill, passed at plenary, had a recurrent expenditure of N91.4 billion while N118.5 billion was appropriated for capital expenditure with N11.5 billion being the sum from the consolidated revenue fund charges and pensions in 2017.

Amosun had on November 22 presented a fiscal proposal of N221.12 billion to the House.

Majority Leader of the Assembly, Adeyinka Mafe moved the motion for the third reading which was seconded by Mojeed Soyebo, after which the Clerk, Mr Lanre Bisiriyu, did the third reading.

The budget was passed after Chairman of the House Committee on Finance and Appropriation, Mr Olusola Bankole, presented the committee’s report to the House.

Bankole assured his colleagues that the reduction would not have any negative effect on the MDAs.

The bill was passed with slight adjustments in some agencies which led to an increment of N107.5 million in the fund initially allocated for salaries which moved from N62.728 billion to N62.836billion, giving N38.5 million reduction.

He said that the capital expenditure was reduced by about N146 million, moving from N118.305 billion down to N118.159 billion, saying that the expected revenue is slashed from N114.343 billion to N114.305 billion.

Bankole also said that the committee also proposed that the College of Health Technology, Ilese, be moved from the Health to Education sector.

“The committee also proposed that the Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency (TRACE) be moved from Security sector to Transport,’’ he said.

Bankole said the heads of 112 Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) appeared before the appropriate sub-committees of the House to defend the proposals of their various offices.

He said the Commissioner for Finance and the Accountant-General should ensure that revenues accrued to the state were paid directly into the Consolidated Revenue Fund.

Mr Suraj Adekunbi, the Speaker, directed that the clean copy of the bill be sent to the governor for his assent.

“Within this period, also, about 30 fleeing suspected Boko Haram members have surrendered to the Niger Multinational Troops on the shores of the lake Chad and we learnt that they were taken to Difa in the Niger Republic. The suspects include; 24 male and six females.

Dogs disappear from streets as Ekiti residents turn to dog meat

Residents of Ekiti State have turned to dog meat as the animals have disappeared from the streets as consumption of dog meat by residents has grown remarkable in the last few weeks.
The development might not be unconnected with the biting recession in the country that has turned more people of the state to dog meat for their nutrition in spite of the taboo hitherto associated with its consumption the community.
In Ado-Ekiti, Ikere-Ekiti, Ise-Ekiti, Emure- Ekiti, Ikole-Ekiti and Otun Ekiti new dog slaughter slabs have sprung up as the residents devour the meat in homes, restaurants and beer parlours.
A resident said no fewer than 20 of such slaughter slabs exist in Ado Ekiti alone. A good number of beer parlours and relaxation centres now make pepper soup and suya from dog meat.
“Because of the high rate of consumption of dog meat, it is now difficult to see dogs on the street and their cost have risen astronomically,” the resident, who craved anonymity said.
Three-months-old dogs previously sold for as low as N500, now attract up to N3,000, while adult go for between N6,000 and N15,000 depending on the size.
Mr Debo Olusola, who trades in dog meat, said he makes an average of N10,000 daily from sale of dog meat suya.
A veterinary doctor, Kunle Adeyemi warned against excessive consumption of the meat, saying it was “risky and injurious to health” due to rabies content in dog flesh and blood.

Army recovers Shekau’s Qur’an, flag in Sambisa, says commander

, #

The Nigerian Army has claimed that it had recovered Abubakar Shekau’s Qur’an and flag in Camp Zero, the Boko Haram’s Headquarters in Sambisa forest.
The Theatre Commander of Operation Lafiya Dole, Maj.-Gen. Lucky Irabor, said this while giving newsmen update on “Operation Rescue Final’’ in Maiduguri.
“We believe that the Holy Book and the flag were abandoned by Abubakar Shekau while he escaped. The Book will be taken to the Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Tukur Burutai, for onward presentation to Mr President.
“We have also made a lot of arrests. Our troops in Damboa arrested about 15 Boko Haram members. We also arrested one Musa from Potiskum on Christmas day which was December 25. On December 26 our troops also intercepted two Boko Haram suspects in Maiduguri.
“We, therefore, warn residents of the state to be wary of people coming to hide in and around their houses.
“We are also warning residents to report any suspected Boko Haram members hiding in their houses to the relevant security agencies and any failure to do that would tantamount to supporting and sympathising with the sect’s activities,’’ Irabor said.
