Parents Offers Son $250k to Move Out and Never Speak to Them Again

Image
An unemployed man claims his parents have offered him $250,000 to move out of their home — provided he never contacts them again, The Mirror reported. The anonymous man, who shared his story on Reddit , said he decided to take the money and sought advice from other users on how to use the funds. Apparently he has no problem accepting his parents’ harsh conditions, and explained his relationship with them has always been pretty bad. He felt his parents were constantly ashamed of him, and always drawing comparisons to his more successful brother. He wrote: “Growing up I was always somewhat the “lost cause” since my brother was better than me at everything. It doesn’t mean I did bad, I was just a little above average while he was always the best at everything: academia, sports, social life, you name it.” Tensions got worse after he finished college and was forced to move back home while searching for a job. Finally his parents gave him the money offer, and told him he’d ha

12 Killed As Double Explosion Hit Jos

Image
Sources from punch Newspaper drop these hint: At least, 12 persons were killed and scores of others injured as two separate bombs exploded in Jos on Thursday. Our correspondent gathered that the first bomb went off at the Bauchi Road motor park, adjacent to the Bauchi road campus of the University of Jos at about 4.30pm, while the second one occurred almost simultaneously in front of the UNIJOS gate. It was gathered that the second targeted the students, who were just trooping out of the school after the day’s lectures. The students resumed on Monday and started their second semester examinations after the school was closed down in November last year following students protest. It was not exactly known the spot where the second bomb went off. While one report said it exploded opposite Shemsak Hotel, a spot frequented by the students and which is directly opposite the Faculty of Medical Sciences, other reports said it went off in front of a pharmacy, opposite the school gate

Excerpt of Buhari's Speech At Chatham House, london

Image
"Prospects for Democratic Consolidation in Africa: Nigeria’s Transition" - By General Muhammadu Buhari Chatham House, London, 26 February 2015 Permit me to start by thanking Chatham House for the invitation to talk about this important topic at this crucial time. The 2015 general election in Nigeria is generating a lot of interests within and outside the country. This is understandable. Nigeria, Africa’s most populous country and largest economy, is at a defining moment, a moment that has great implications beyond the democratic project and beyond the borders of my dear country. So let me say upfront that the global interest in Nigeria’s landmark election is not misplaced at all and indeed should be commended, for this is an election that has serious import for the world. I urge the international community to continue to focus on Nigeria at this very critical moment. Given increasing global linkages, it is in our collective interests that the postponed elections should

What Happens to Our Body After Drinking Coca-cola?

Image
To you die hard fans of Coca-cola, I hope you think twice after reading these. Have you ever wondered what exactly Coca-Cola is? After 10 minutes: Ten tea spoons of sugar contained in a glass of Cola, cause devastating “strike” on the organism and the only cause, by reason of not vomiting, is the phosphoric acid which inhibits the action of sugar. After 20 minutes: A leap of insulin levels in bloodstream occurs. The liver converts all the sugar into fat. After 40 minutes: Ingestion of caffeine is finally completed. The eye pupils are expanding. Blood pressure rises, because the liver disposes more sugar into bloodstream. The adenosine receptors get blocked, thereby preventing drowsiness. After 45 minutes: Body raises production of dopamine hormone, which stimulates the brain pleasure center. Heroin has the same principle of operation. After 1 hour: Phosphoric acid binds calcium, magnesium and zinc in the gastrointestinal tract, which supercharges metabolism. Releasing of cal

15 Hollywood Celebrities Who Did Breast Enlargment

Image
In Hollywood, appearance is everything, which is why plastic surgery has become a common event in many celebrities’ lives. It’s funny, though, because not that long ago, no one ever talked openly about or admitted to having work done. But then some top celebrities started speaking very candidly about getting work – a LOT of work – done, and suddenly it became okay to admit you went under the knife. Nowadays, most celebs don’t even bother hiding the fact they’ve had work done. In fact, going under the knife is encouraged by agents and managers to ensure a nice, long career. Heidi Montag   For a young lady who is only in her early 20s, reality star Heidi Montag has undergone quite a few enhancement procedures. She has actually been quoted as saying she is beyond obsessed with being perfect. She got her original boob job done soon after landing her role on The Hills, but she really went for it in 2009 when she had another surgery which increased her breasts to a size DD

Image
The city of Dhaka, Bangladesh  is mourning the loss of over a hundred people who embarked on a ferry journey but lost their lives when the boat sank. The ferry collided with a cargo vessel at the Daulatdia-Paturia crossing on the Padma River on Sunday afternoon, said fire department official Shahzadi Begum. Rescue teams were deployed and passing boats were helping in the operation, he added. Officials reported that they were able to recover seven bodies  including that of a child. A passenger who survived said many people got trapped inside when the ferry sank. "The passengers who were on the deck have survived, but many who were inside got trapped," Hafizur Rahman Sheikh was quoted as saying by the Prothom Alo newspaper. Overcrowding and poor safety standards are often blamed for ferry disasters in the impoverished South Asian nation.

In 1752, he joined the British army and served as a lieutenant in the French and Indian War. When the war ended, Washington left the army and returned home to Virginia to manage Mount Vernon, the plantation he had recently inherited upon the death of his older brother. During his years on the lam, Guzman’s elusiveness was celebrated in “narcocorridos,” Mexican ballads glorifying the drug trade, while in such places as Chicago , where his cartel supplied the majority of the narcotics sold in the city, he was declared Public Enemy No. 1.

Passenger Tells Man to go F*ck Himself, Ends Up for Interview With Him

Image
The Incident occurred in a London this week. The man was travelling on the London Underground Monday when a fellow passenger blocked his way. He responded in the traditional London manner, with a push, a shove and some of the expletive-laden compliments so familiar with dwellers in the capital. Perhaps he was stressed; he had an interview lined up for the role of Python Developer at Forward Partners for later that day. What he didn't realise was that his victim was Matt Buckland, Head of Talent and Recruiting at Forward Partners, who had one task for the afternoon: fill the role of Python Developer. Awkward. The job asks several things of potential candidates. "You are passionate about open-source and have a keen interest in current and future trends" it says and, "you enjoy working in small multi-functional teams at pace." There's no mention of whether or not you work well in compact train carriages with strangers, but the man didn't get the job. The p

12 Major Things Likely to Destroy The World

Image
The Bible believes the World is 6,000 years old while Science argues that  the World is 4.54 billion years, and man who is the caretaker has been around for close to 7 million years, but that argument is for another day. The basis of my post today is to look at some few things that is likely to destroy the World in years to come in pictorial view. 1) Catastrophic climate change   According to a 2013 World Bank report, "there is also no certainty that adaptation to a 4°C world is possible ." Warming at that level would displace huge numbers of people as sea levels rise and coastal areas become submerged. Agriculture would take a giant hit. Pamlin and Armstrong also express concern about geoengineering . In such an extreme warming scenario, things like spraying sulfate particles into the stratosphere to cool the Earth may start to look attractive to policymakers or even private individuals. But the risks are unknown, and Pamlin and Armstrong conclude that "the bigg
