Rivers rerun poll: PDP wins 2 as Abe clinches one senate seat for APC





The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has declared the results in some of districts where collations have been concluded in the rerun Rivers State legislative poll.
Of the three seats available, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) clinched two while the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) got a seat.
The PDP’s candidate for Rivers West senatorial district, Osinakachukwu Idozi was returned elected as he polled 107, 166 to beat his APC rival, Otelemaba Amachree who polled 46,898.
Also, George Sekibo of the PDP emerged winner of the Rivers East Constituency polling 93, 098 votes to beat his APC challenger.
APC’s Magnus Abe won in the third senatorial district, Rivers South East. He defeated Olaka Nwogu of PDP.
Abe, won the rerun election as the Returning Officer, Prof. Gideon Onukwuisi, declared Abe polled 125,938 votes to beat his opponent from the Peoples Democratic Party, Olaka Wogu, who got 25,394 votes.
Abe, who later addressed journalists, expressed satisfaction with the outcome of the election.
He also expressed gratitude to his supporters for having confidence in him and pledged to give them a better representation.
