Jammeh opponent kicks, says ‘I remain president-elect’

The embattled President elect of Gambia, Mr. Adama Barrow has spunned the decision of incumbent Yahya Jammeh to annul the recently held Presidential election.
Jammeh who had initially conceded defeat and had congratulated Barrow on Saturday made a u-turn when he called for another poll saying the earlier one was fraught with fraud and that many of the voters did not turn out to exercise their franchise.
The move drew the ire of the international community such the Economic Community of West African States, the United Nations as well as the African Union.
Reacting in a post on his facebook page, Barrow wrote, “I’m Gambia’s President elect and NOT Yahya Jammeh.
“We strongly condemn Jammeh’s statement annulling the results of the elections. I am the President elect. Jammeh doesn’t have the right to annul the election results.”
