French President, Francois Hollande's Partner admitted to Hospital after learning of affair rumour
A French magazine published a report of an alleged affair between the President and an actress.
On reading that story, President Hollande’s long time official partner, Valerie Trierweiler, fell ill and was admitted to the hospital.
Mr Hollande left his fellow Socialist politician Ségolène Royal, the mother of his four children, for Ms Trierweiler, a divorced mother of three, before being elected president.
Ms Trierweiler's office has said simply she is in the hospital for rest and some tests.
No further information has been released.
The reports increase the pressure on the French leader to say something publicly about the alleged affair at a pre-arranged press conference scheduled for Tuesday that was to have re-launched his struggling presidency.
The President has however come out to condemn the act, saying it’s an invasion of his privacy, he has not denied the accuracy of the reports.
