It was gathered that there were no fewer than 9 casualties who were surreptitiously ferried to the NNPC clinic and other medical centers nearby.

Meanwhile, the situation was said to have been brought under control by officials of the company.
It was gathered that the directives and prompt intervention of the Managing Director, Engr. Paul Obelley, who was on his way to Port Harcourt in preparation for his daughter’s wedding this weekend, had to cut short his trip, due to the situation.


Though the cause of the explosion was yet to be ascertained, but a competent source said the officials of the company were still investigating the actual cause of the explosion.


Our correspondent was reliably informed that no life was lost in the incident, but some few persons working in the affected area may have sustained minor injuries as a result of the explosion.


Another competent source said, immediately the explosion occurred, all the workers were evacuated to safety points, while firefighters put off the fire.
