Court Bars AIT from Airing Documentary on Tinubu
The National leader of the Opposition party in Nigeria, All Progressive's Congress (APC), Senator Ahmed Bola Tinubu got an Injunction from a Lagos High court sitting in Ikeja to prevent the Africa Independent Television (AIT) from broadcasting a documentary about him titled "'Lion of Bourdillion".
He alleged the documentary was libelous and sued AIT through his Counsel, Chief Wole Olanipekun(SAN) demanding the sum of N150billion for damages.
In response to the prayer, Chief Mike Ozekhome(SAN) objected the motion and ask the court to give him time to respond to the application.
However, the trial Judge, Justice Akinkungbe upheld the plaintiff's application stating thus:
"the defendant is hereby restrained from further airing, publishing or disseminating and broadcasting the documentary, "Lion of Bourdilion", pending the determination of the interlocutory application".
She thereafter adjourned the matter to March 20, 2015 for argument on the interlocutory application".
