Monalisa Chinda Speaks on her newly launch magazine

Nollywood actress, Monalisa Chinda, launched her self entitled magazine on November 22. The launch of the magazine, which created a lots of buzz on the social media, took place at the Intercontinental Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos.
One would have no option but ask why an actress would decide to go into publishing. To this, she said in her speech. “This journey seemed to have more bumps than the Lagos-Ibadan expressway, it evoked emotions that I did not even know I had inside of me
“It seemed the harder we worked, the heavier the load. The more we did, the longer the task list grew, but at  every turn, every stumble, every challenge, every criticism became an empowering motivator and which further ignited that fire in me to create and deliver.
“I believe so much in the vision, as it did not matter that many people told me that it was a mad and crazy idea, as I was told that about 50 per cent of magazines fail within that first year, I was even told that the magazine market in Nigeria was not buoyant enough  to accommodate another magazine, but as Albert Einstein said, “only those who can attempt the absurd can achieve the impossible,” so allow me to give you a taste of this magazine.
“It is about the love of the finer things of life, it is about being unapologetic of success, it is about celebrating fruits of labour, it’s about love, laughing and living,” the actress said.
Speaking at the event, Senator Florence Ita Giwa said, “Monalisa is a very sweet and special lady, and that was why I just had to pick a flight ticket from Dubai for this event. We would support her and encourage her with this dream of hers.”
When asked why she decided to delve into publishing, The actress said, “Acting would always be a part of me, as you attain certain heights  in your career, it’s only normal to diversify, to show your other sides, so that other people would see what you can do, to not just entertain people but to impact knowledge. I would advice up-and-coming entrepreneurs never to allow anyone  make them think they cannot do it.
“Keep pushing, people will always criticise you.  I am a very big critic of myself,  so nobody should deter you from striving to become better,” she said.
On her opinion of what style and comfort meant, she said, style means simplicity, it means who you are, in and out.
To end her speech, she declared: “I thank God Almighty, for His mercies, grace and favour, for making this magazine a dream come true.
“To my Nollywood family, I thank you for always looking out for me, my family, I thank you for your love and support, to my team, thank you so muc.”
She also showerd praises on her lover and business partner, Mr Lanre Nzeribe.
“You are a special man, you have been with me through thick and thin, You would listen to my ifs and buts, thank you so much.”
Dignitaries and celebrities at the event included Senator Florence Ita Giwa, ace comedian, Alibaba and his wife, Mary; Segun Arinze, who was the host; Betty and Sonny Irabor, Lanre Nzeribe, Collins Onwochei, Rukky Sanda, Mary Uranta, among others.
