Miley Cyrus named MTV's best artist of the year

MTV named Miley Cyrus the artist of the year for 2013 based largely on the buzz created around her wild VMAs performance.
MTV–has named Miley Cyrus the  Best Artist of  2013–and the pick is spurring debate among fans.
That’s right–not only is Cyrus an artist, she’s the best artist. Of the entire year.
“Miley Cyrus?! A new low for MTV!” wrote one commenter.
“miley cryus! really, Kendrick lamar or Eminem should b the winner not her... come on even Justin timberlake had better music” wrote another.
The singer did have a headline grabbing 2013, releasing her chart-topping album “”Bangerz,” swinging nude on a “Wrecking Ball” in her video, and twerking her way to controversy with Robin Thicke at the MTV Video Music Awards.
MTV News wrote “It’s sort of brilliant, really. And yet, few in her position have the smarts (or the stones) to put that anti-plan into action. Miley does. And because of that, she operates within a unique space within the pop sphere: unlike many of her contemporaries, she seems real.”
Teen Vogue supported the pick, posting a story with the headline “MTV Names Miley Cyrus Its 2013 Artist of the Year, Everyone Enthusiastically Nods in Agreement.”
